Parent Involvement is an important part of Running River School. We believe that school and home should be connected, providing children with consistency and greater support in all areas of their growth.

We ask all parents to contribute 4 hours a month by either teaching one hour a week or hiking with us once a month. If this isn’t possible, there are other jobs parents fill such as gardening, maintenance, errands, graphics, kitchen help, and more. Children also love to have their parents come to school and share their skills! These can include crafts, sports, cooking, building, looking at constellations, or learning about the different jobs that parents have. We assist the parents in every way possible to create wonderful learning opportunities for all.

All parents are on a school Project Team to support our fundraising efforts. Project Teams are announced in the fall.

Parent Forums are held every third Thursday of the month from 5pm-7pm. They include dinner and child care, siblings included. The forums include discussions, presentations, experiential exercises and guest speakers. We ask that both parents attend these meetings unless there is an illness or a parent is out of town, or other such unpreventable situations. Once a semester we have a Parent Night instead of a Parent Forum, where children present class projects to their parents.
